As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, working closely with our multi-disciplinary groups. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, and testing support of mechanical systems for hydropower and pumped storage hydro projects, encompassing components such as turbines, pumps, generators, and control systems.

Your project involvement will span various roles, including advisory services, client-facing concept design, contractor-oriented detailed design, troubleshooting, installation support, and due diligence for lenders and insurance.

You will engage with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners, and other stakeholders to foster positive project outcomes. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will hold Chartered or Incorporated status with the IMechE. Proven experience in the mechanical design of hydro and/or pumped storage hydro systems is essential. Experience in other sectors, particularly within Energy and Water, is advantageous.

Proficiency in generating technical specifications, power and energy calculations, schedules, and reports is expected, along with familiarity in collaborative design reviews.

Strong communication skills are necessary for delivering technical presentations to clients and engaging in collaborative design discussions, including technical workshops.

Comfort in working within a full 3D environment using relevant tools for modeling and reviews is required.

A willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally is preferred.
