We are thrilled to announce a unique position within our expanding Supported Living Team at Empower Family Group.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a dependable vehicle.

Note: We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

Work Schedule:

This role involves a commitment of 48 hours per week on a consistent 2 on, 4 off shift pattern. Flexibility in scheduling is not available at this time.

Compensation:

The salary structure is as follows:

£29,775 for candidates without a Level 3/4 NVQ in Residential Childcare, and

£31,752 for those with the relevant qualifications.

Role Overview:

As a Supported Living Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in guiding unaccompanied young adults aged 16 and above towards independent living. This rewarding position involves contributing to their transition from care to self-sufficiency, working alongside a dedicated team to enhance the opportunities available to these young individuals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist young adults transitioning from care in various practical, personal, social, and financial aspects to foster their independence and community involvement.
  • Maintain accurate records through weekly and monthly reports, support plans, and risk assessments using our specialized online system.
  • Identify potential risks and collaborate with the broader team to implement safety measures for the young people.
  • Support young individuals in continuing their education or embarking on their employment journey.
  • Ensure the living environment is well-maintained and clean.
  • Encourage participation in affordable and sustainable community activities.
  • Utilize creative and inclusive methods to enhance young people's development and aspirations through one-on-one key work sessions.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and professionals as needed.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to protect young individuals from harm.
  • Manage challenging behaviors and navigate difficult situations effectively.

Building friendships can be challenging for the young people we support, making it essential for a Supported Living Care Assistant to promote and plan meaningful activities. This may include facilitating hobbies, accessing training, engaging in community groups, or teaching essential life skills such as cooking or DIY.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster trusting relationships with young individuals and partner organizations.
  • Experience working with young people or managing challenging behaviors in any capacity.
  • Excellent organizational skills to adapt to the needs of young people.
  • Proficient IT skills, including familiarity with Outlook, online systems, Excel, Word, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals leaving care.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to work sleep-in shifts and flexibility to adhere to a rota system.
  • Capable of keeping precise records and providing written reports for planning meetings and reviews as directed.
  • Desirable but not mandatory: QCF Level 3 in children's residential care or equivalent.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Willingness to obtain business insurance for transport when necessary.

Important Note:

This role is subject to the successful completion of an enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, requiring applicants to disclose any unprotected convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings as defined by the Act.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence (mandatory).
  • Right to work in the UK (mandatory).
  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (preferred).
