Exciting Opportunity: We are looking for a dedicated individual to become part of our Supported Living Team at Empower Family Group.

A valid UK Driving Licence and access to a dependable vehicle are essential.
Note: We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

Work Schedule:
This role involves a commitment of 48 hours per week on a fixed 2 on 4 off shift pattern, with no flexibility available at this time.

Compensation:

  • £29,775 for candidates without Level 3/4 NVQ in Residential Childcare
  • £31,752 for candidates with Level 3/4 NVQ in Residential Childcare

Role Overview:
As a Supported Living Assistant, you will play a vital role in guiding unaccompanied young adults aged 16 and above as they transition towards independent living. This rewarding position involves working collaboratively with a committed team to enhance the opportunities available to these young individuals.

Main Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of a Supported Living Assistant include:

  • Providing practical, personal, social, and financial support to young people aged 16 to 18 as they prepare for independence.
  • Documenting weekly and monthly reports, support plans, and risk assessments using our specialized online system.
  • Identifying risks and concerns, collaborating with the broader team to ensure the safety of young individuals.
  • Assisting young people in continuing their education or embarking on their employment journey.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and upkeep in the living environment.
  • Encouraging participation in affordable and sustainable community activities.
  • Utilizing creative and inclusive methods to support young people's growth and aspirations through one-on-one key work sessions.
  • Coordinating with external agencies and professionals.
  • Adhering to policies and procedures to protect young individuals from harm.
  • Managing challenging behaviors and difficult situations effectively.

Building friendships can be challenging for the young people we support, making it essential for the Supported Living Assistant to facilitate and plan meaningful activities. This may involve helping individuals pursue hobbies, engage in community groups, or learn new life skills such as cooking or DIY.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster trusting relationships with young individuals and partner organizations.
  • Experience working with young people or managing challenging behaviors in any capacity.
  • Excellent organizational skills to adapt to the evolving needs of young individuals.
  • Proficient IT skills, including the use of Outlook, online recording systems, Excel, Word, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by young people leaving care.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to work sleep-in shifts and flexibility to adhere to a rota schedule.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records and provide written reports for planning meetings and reviews.
  • Desirable but not mandatory: QCF Level 3 in children's residential care or equivalent.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Willingness to obtain business insurance for transportation if required.

Additional Information:
This role is subject to a successful enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.

Compliance:
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; therefore, applicants must declare any non-protected convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings as defined by the Act.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence (mandatory)
  • Right to work in the UK (mandatory)
  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (preferred)
