About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at a Semi-Independent residential home in Exeter. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young adults between the ages of 16-18 years old with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives.
  • Maintain a homely and friendly culture and environment in the home.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours in a safe and sympathetic manner.
  • Protect young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred methods of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals involved in young people's lives.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • A valid UK driving licence is required as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Exeter.
