Position: SEN Support Specialist

Location: Bootle (L20)
Salary: Starting at £12.90 per hour
Contract Type: Part-time, Temporary

Role Overview:

As an SEN Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our inclusive educational framework, collaborating closely with educators, SEN Coordinators, and fellow support personnel to ensure that children with additional needs receive optimal care and guidance. Utilizing your background as a Youth Worker, you will cultivate strong, trusting relationships with students and provide customized support to help them navigate their learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with SEN in both group and individual settings.
  • Implement tailored support strategies, assisting with academic tasks, social skills, and emotional health.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to modify learning activities and foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support mechanisms based on each child's unique requirements.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviors in a constructive and supportive manner.
  • Track student progress and communicate findings to the SEN Coordinator and teaching staff.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and included.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience as a Youth Worker or in a similar capacity working with young individuals.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with SEN, particularly in an educational context.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive demeanor when assisting children through difficulties.
  • A flexible and proactive approach, committed to ongoing professional development.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in an educational environment or with primary-aged children.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN.
  • Familiarity with various SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
