About the Role
As an SEN Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our inclusive education team. You'll collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure children with additional needs receive exceptional care and guidance. Leveraging your experience working with young people, you will build strong relationships with pupils and provide tailored support to help them overcome learning barriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to children with SEN in both group settings and on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Implement personalized support plans, assisting with academic work, social development, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt learning activities and create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Deliver targeted interventions and support strategies based on individual needs.
- Help manage challenging behavior in a positive and supportive manner.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the SENCO and teachers.
- Cultivate a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and included.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Youth Worker or in a similar role working with young people.
- A strong understanding of the needs of children with SEN, particularly within an educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, staff, and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude when supporting children through challenges.
- A flexible, proactive approach with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
- Experience in a school setting or working with primary-aged children.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN.
- Knowledge of different SEN conditions and strategies to support them.
