Role Overview:

As a SEN Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in fostering an inclusive educational atmosphere. Collaborating closely with the classroom teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), you will provide customized assistance to students with diverse learning requirements. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Delivering individualized and small group support for students with special educational needs.
  • Assisting in the formulation and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Facilitating the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
  • Contributing to a secure and engaging learning environment.
  • Promoting student independence and enhancing their self-esteem.
  • Working alongside educators and other professionals to track progress and modify strategies as necessary.
  • Keeping precise records of student development and behavior.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will exhibit patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with special needs. You should possess outstanding communication abilities and the capacity to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Additionally, you should have:

  • Experience in working with children, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning challenges.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • A flexible and proactive mindset to address the needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) are advantageous but not mandatory.

All pay rates mentioned will include statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.
