About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the RCE Wellbeing Hub. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are waiting on CPFT waiting lists, helping them to achieve their goals and improve their overall wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities
  • Co-deliver the Wellbeing Discovery Programme (WDP) for individuals on waiting lists for CPFT services, promoting the core ethos of Hope, Control and Opportunity.
  • Offer formalised 1:1 Peer Support to individuals attending the WDP, helping them to set and achieve goals.
  • Facilitate and support information sharing to promote connections to local communities and/or educational facilities.
  • Work alongside RCE Wellbeing Hub students on a 1:1 and group basis to provide formalised peer support to adults with physical and/or mental health challenges.
  • Support individuals to overcome fears and challenges, promoting a positive and empowering approach to recovery.
  • Contribute to team meetings, providing feedback on progress and supporting the development of recovery-focused initiatives.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards colleagues, students, peers and carers.
Requirements
  • Good level of secondary education to GCSE level, including English.
  • Completion of Peer Support Worker Training.
  • Completion of own Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or similar, or commitment to complete within 3-6 months of employment.
  • Lived experience of long-term health challenges.
  • Experience of working in a team or group environment.
  • Experience of using a range of self-management or recovery tools and techniques.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 3 (or more) in Training and Delivery.
  • Psychiatric hospital admission.
  • Experience of delivering educational sessions.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to support people with a range of needs to meet their goals.
  • IT literacy using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain a healthy home/work life balance.
  • Respectful and compassionate approach.
  • Patient and non-judgmental attitude.
