This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a company dedicated to transforming lives and fostering stronger communities.

As a Senior Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Contract Manager by overseeing daily site operations. You will lead a team of Detention Custody Managers, ensuring that the care and welfare of detained individuals are prioritized at all times. Experience in managing high-risk or vulnerable populations is advantageous, along with a background in collaborative team environments that promote positive behavior and alleviate anxieties among service users.

  • You will spearhead and manage a specific function (e.g., Admissions and Discharge), taking full responsibility for its success.
  • Ensuring a respectful and welcoming environment for all, you will effectively communicate and implement on-site procedures and policies in a timely manner. You will establish relevant processes and training to facilitate access to essential services, including healthcare and education, for detained individuals.
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with your team and the detained individuals will be crucial. You will provide governance, guidance, and understanding while ensuring that staff records, including time sheets and training documentation, are maintained and available for review.
  • As a key liaison for various on-site partners, you will ensure the smooth operation of the site. Collaborating with local stakeholders to enhance services will be essential, as will fostering productive relationships with the local community and businesses.
  • You will oversee a critical operational area and manage the company budget, taking charge of a specific area of delivery or compliance as directed by the Contract Manager. Your responsibilities will include creating, reviewing, and continuously improving policies and processes relevant to your area, ensuring consistency in documentation and application.
  • Health, safety, and environmental matters will fall under your purview, including record-keeping. You will maintain accurate records of security patrols, visitor logs, and incident reports, ensuring proper reporting lines are adhered to.
  • In the event of any contingency plan activation, you will be responsible for appropriate escalation procedures.

Qualifications for Senior Operations Manager:

  • Proven experience in leading operational teams in accordance with contract specifications, setting clear expectations, key performance indicators, and objectives for all personnel on site. You will manage performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • A high level of human empathy is essential; you should be a caring and compassionate individual who takes accountability for their actions and is dedicated to supporting our service user group.
  • Strong leadership, delegation, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills are required, along with a track record of promoting equality and anti-discriminatory practices in service provision.
  • Experience in working with high-risk or vulnerable populations is beneficial, as is experience in team environments that promote positive behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-performing, outcome-focused services in a target-driven outsourced contract environment.
  • You should be action-oriented, target-driven, and capable of inspiring and motivating teams.
  • Proven experience in managing teams to provide a 24/7 service is necessary.
