The selected candidate will join a dedicated team focused on enhancing breast cancer services, serving as a representative for the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists (BCNS) team. The role involves delivering professional, clinical, and innovative care in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, following necessary training.

As a Macmillan Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist, the individual will play a crucial role in providing expert guidance and support to patients with suspected or confirmed breast cancer and benign breast conditions. They will utilize their specialized nursing knowledge to manage patient care effectively, coordinating with colleagues across various healthcare settings to ensure comprehensive assessments and holistic care packages, guaranteeing that patients receive timely and evidence-based treatment.

The post holder will also be responsible for creating and implementing educational programs for healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers, working collaboratively to advance the breast service.

The role requires flexibility to work across multiple facilities within the Trust, including specialized units.

Key Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities include managing treatment summaries and conducting telephone triage clinics.

Furthermore, a portion of the role involves attending multidisciplinary team meetings, which is essential for maintaining quality assurance and patient advocacy.

The nurses will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes consultants, radiographers, oncologists, and pathology staff.
