Consultant Oncologist in Breast Cancer Care

Position Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our dedicated Breast Disease Group, contributing to a comprehensive clinical service for patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed oncologist will collaborate closely with the Breast team, providing expert medical input across various patient care settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory environments. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the management of breast cancer patients, including those participating in clinical trials, ensuring informed treatment decisions and continuous care.
- Engaging in clinical governance activities, which involve updating protocols, guidelines, and conducting clinical audits under the guidance of senior consultants.
- Contributing to ongoing research initiatives and identifying new avenues for research development within the team.
- Revising and creating evidence-based treatment protocols, along with managing the administrative responsibilities associated with patient care.
- Maintaining professional development in line with the standards set by the Royal College of Physicians.
- Participating in the education of medical students on oncology topics and delivering lectures for postgraduate training programs.
- Actively mentoring junior doctors and multidisciplinary team members in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Conducting clinical audits as part of the Medical Staff Committee.
Additionally, the role includes participation in an on-call rota, providing essential support to the team and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or eligibility for Specialist Registration.
- Demonstrated experience in oncology, particularly in breast cancer management.
- Evidence of involvement in ethical research relevant to oncology.
- Experience in teaching and clinical audit.
