About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Custody Housing Advice Worker to provide vital support to individuals within the prison system, aiming to reduce reoffending rates and promote successful reintegration into society.

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in assessing clients' housing needs and implementing strategies to prevent homelessness. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Guiding clients in maintaining their current accommodation or transitioning tenancies to avoid accumulating rent arrears and debt.
  • Assisting clients facing homelessness upon release by connecting them with suitable housing options.
  • Collaborating closely with The Probation Service to achieve set interventions aimed at preventing homelessness.
  • Working effectively as part of a larger team spanning multiple prisons and probation offices.

About You

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience working with individuals who have criminal backgrounds and those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
  • The ability to thrive within a multidisciplinary, multi-agency environment, fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work in a dynamic and often challenging setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet agreed deadlines and targets.
  • The capacity to effectively manage clients with diverse needs who may exhibit challenging behaviors.

Essential Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to undergo and pass Prison Security Vetting at Level 1.
