London, Greater London, United Kingdom Boston Consulting Group Full time
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the Senior Manager of Practice Areas, you will influence and advance the People strategy for the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) sector.

You will collaborate closely with our Global People Leader and the broader Leadership team to establish and implement our Practice Area agenda, designing and executing initiatives to enhance our workforce and manage the overall people strategy. In this capacity, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the TMT sector, engage with senior stakeholders, and guide our teams as they strive to achieve growth and affiliation objectives. You will cultivate strong partnerships with stakeholders, develop strategic insights, provide clear recommendations based on data, and create impactful materials that drive results.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

In this position, you will focus on three primary areas of responsibility:

Strategic People Plan & Agenda - In collaboration with Practice Area Leadership, you will formulate a comprehensive people strategy for TMT, defining and executing a series of global initiatives based on priority themes:
  • Gather insights on our workforce and sentiment, and, alongside senior leadership, establish initiatives and set targets, working with global teams for execution.
  • Oversee team priorities and manage the implementation and tracking of progress through defined KPIs.
Pyramid Management - Develop our resource planning strategy for the Practice Area:
  • Drive insights and strategic recommendations regarding resource allocation and planning.
  • Supervise the affiliation process in collaboration with Regional teams.
  • Ensure best practice support for TMT members at critical career junctures.
  • Assess capacity and expertise by region and sector, identifying planning gaps.
  • Provide global insights and oversight for lateral hiring efforts, working with Regional teams.
  • Innovate communication strategies for People announcements.
Affiliation and Engagement - Establish strategy and ensure excellence in internal affiliation activities:

Alumni
  • Lead the global Alumni strategy, defining key interventions.
  • Oversee Regional Alumni Councils and guide relevant Regional teams.
  • Facilitate engagement from Regional, Local, or Client teams with Alumni.
  • Operationalize Alumni reporting to enhance transparency and outreach.
  • Increase the visibility of Alumni in internal and external communications and events.
TMT Academy
  • Set the strategy and drive the evolution of our core internal learning program.
  • Oversee and ensure quality delivery of content, communications, and event schedules.
  • Utilize internal analysis to innovate and evolve the program based on results and priorities.
Expert Community
  • Drive significant improvements in Expert engagement, identifying opportunities and gaps, and collaborating with Sectors and the Global ECT Team to define and implement best practices.
  • Analyze key performance indicators and collaborate with Regions and Sectors to enhance career management.
Diversity
  • Actively monitor Diversity KPIs, deriving insights across cohorts and regions.
  • Own and set the agenda, defining interventions and sharing best practices.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of a calendar of events in collaboration with Regional teams.
Affiliation Meetings
  • Based on a thorough understanding of Practice Area strategic goals, work with senior leaders to bring vision, set agendas, and oversee a large global team for execution.
  • Lead a large content and logistics team, ensuring effective delivery and budget management.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Experience and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • Consulting experience or similar strategic roles is ideal.
  • Strong storytelling and writing skills, capable of developing clear, structured presentations and memos for senior audiences.
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to derive insights from data and manage large datasets effectively.
  • Experience managing substantial budgets and financial systems is preferred.
  • People management or mentorship experience is a plus.
Competencies:
  • Positive mindset, self-starter with a growth orientation, offering solutions rather than problems.
  • Autonomous and comfortable with ambiguity, able to develop strategies based on Practice Area priorities.
  • Collaborative team player with strong networking abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to shape and define a clear agenda for the People team, utilizing data insights to set goals.
  • Capable of managing a diverse workload and dealing with senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting data and drawing conclusions for leadership.
  • Excellent project management skills, demonstrating high ownership while remaining flexible.
You will serve as a thought partner and primary execution counterpart to our Global People Leader, as well as other Leadership Team members, collaborating closely with the Practice Area management team and relevant functions within the organization.
