Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Urology Department, responsible for overseeing and optimizing general urology cancer and elective pathways. This role includes managing RTT Validation within a comprehensive cancer and benign service, collaborating with the Clinical Pathway Group (CPG) to enhance service performance. The ideal candidate will specifically focus on Urology prostate pathways while demonstrating adaptability to support other Urology subspecialties as needed.

Important Note

This position is intended for maternity cover.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant must exemplify the Trust's values and fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the job description and person specification. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing referrals by collaborating closely with clinicians to ensure patients are placed on the appropriate clinical pathway.
  • Ensuring necessary preliminary tests or investigations are ordered as required.
  • Establishing effective communication channels to keep key stakeholders, including patients, families, and caregivers, informed about communication details and operational hours.
  • Coordinating transport and translation services in accordance with Trust procedures when necessary.
  • Identifying and addressing bottlenecks or delays in patient pathways, escalating issues to the clinical pathway manager as needed. Ensuring all patient administration adheres to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Organizing suitable appointments for patients in collaboration with the Outpatient Appointment Centre (OAC), including rescheduling and booking follow-up appointments as directed by clinicians, tailored to the clinical pathway and individual patient needs to minimize multiple hospital visits.
  • Monitoring clinic lists to evaluate workflow and escalate any issues as necessary.
  • Ensuring patients comprehend their care pathway and are aware of appointments and any modifications.
  • Overseeing investigations and tests to confirm completion and availability of results/reports prior to appointments and consultations with the clinical team.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths and English or equivalent.
  • ECDL or equivalent demonstrable skills.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Basic Communication Skills Training (Sage/Thyme).
  • Evidence of personal development through courses or further study.

Required Experience

  • Prior experience in a public-facing role within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience interacting with staff at all levels.
  • Administrative and organizational experience.
  • Experience managing non-routine and complex issues.
