Position Overview

We are seeking a Finance Manager - Accountant to become part of our Group Reporting division. This team oversees comprehensive Financial Reporting activities, including general ledger management, quarterly Group consolidation participation, supplementary disclosures, and the annual production of entity Reports and Accounts.

The primary focus of this role is on post-ledger fulfillment tasks, particularly the management, production, and review of Financial Reporting for the Legal & General Reinsurance entities (L&G Re, L&G Re2).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and ensure the delivery of Financial Reporting for L&G Re and L&G Re2, emphasizing Investment reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes coordinating Group disclosures through the OneStream consolidation tool, providing ongoing support to the BAU team regarding investments, preparing for annual accounts production, and overseeing the distribution of annual Reports and Accounts.
  • Understand the complexities introduced by IFRS17 in the reporting routine to ensure the accuracy of reporting disclosures.
  • Identify, manage, and monitor the resolution of issues during report production while maintaining communication with key stakeholders.
  • Develop expertise in system reporting (GFAS, OneStream, CDM, IFRS17 systems, Clearwater, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the GL/SII Manager to effectively coordinate resources to achieve team objectives.
  • Work with the Financial Reporting L&G Re team, Group External Reporting, Investment Management, the broader Group Finance team, and external auditors to ensure requirements are understood, scheduled, and executed.
  • Mentor less experienced team members to enhance their technical and procedural knowledge, setting a positive example through actions.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Assist in integrating new Financial Reporting tools into Business As Usual (BAU), specifically Clearwater and the replacement tool for annual Reports & Accounts disclosure management.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant from a recognized accountancy body with a solid understanding of IFRS17 Insurance Contracts and IFRS9 Financial Instruments.
  • Essential experience in Group Financial Reporting processes.
  • Proven experience in annual Reports & Accounts production under IFRS.
  • Familiarity with internal control procedures to ensure compliance is essential.
  • Experience in insurance and investment disclosure reporting is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage workload proactively and coordinate activities to deliver complex processes within tight deadlines.
  • Experience in collaborative problem-solving for process, reconciliation, and accounting issues.
  • Ability to navigate complex internal processes and systems architecture, linking interdependencies effectively.
  • Experience with complex reconciliation processes.
