Position Overview

We are seeking a Finance Manager - Accountant to become part of our Group Reporting team. This unit is responsible for comprehensive Financial Reporting tasks, including general ledger management, quarterly consolidation participation, supplementary disclosures, and the annual preparation of entity Reports and Accounts.

The primary focus of this role is on post-ledger activities, particularly the oversight, preparation, and evaluation of Financial Reporting for the Legal & General Reinsurance entities (L&G Re, L&G Re2).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and ensure the timely delivery of Financial Reporting for L&G Re and L&G Re2, with an emphasis on Investment reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes coordinating Group disclosures through the OneStream consolidation tool and providing ongoing support to the BAU team regarding investments.
  • Understand the complexities introduced by IFRS17 in the reporting processes to guarantee the accuracy of reporting disclosures.
  • Identify and address issues during report production while maintaining communication with key stakeholders.
  • Develop expertise in system reporting tools (GFAS, OneStream, CDM, IFRS17 systems, Clearwater, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the GL/SII Manager to effectively coordinate resources to achieve team objectives.
  • Work alongside the Financial Reporting L&G Re team, Group External Reporting, Investment Management, and external auditors to ensure requirements are understood and executed.
  • Mentor less experienced team members to enhance their technical and procedural skills, leading by example.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Assist in the integration of new Financial Reporting tools into Business As Usual (BAU), particularly Clearwater and the new tool for annual Reports & Accounts disclosure management.
Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess:
  • A qualification from a recognized accountancy body with a solid understanding of IFRS17 Insurance Contracts and IFRS9 Financial Instruments.
  • Experience in Group Financial Reporting processes is essential.
  • Familiarity with annual Reports & Accounts production under IFRS is crucial.
  • Knowledge of internal control procedures to ensure compliance is required.
  • Experience in insurance and investment disclosure reporting is advantageous.
  • Background in life and/or general insurance reporting is beneficial.
  • Proven ability to manage workload effectively and coordinate activities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in collaborating with others to resolve process, reconciliation, and accounting challenges.
  • Skills in navigating complex internal processes and systems architecture.
  • Experience with intricate reconciliation processes.
