Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Actuary to take on the role of Financial Control Manager. This position offers a competitive salary, along with a car allowance for fully qualified candidates under the IFoA or equivalent, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The Financial Control team plays a crucial role in evaluating and enhancing processes to maintain a robust control environment throughout the Legal & General Group. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the Actuarial control authority for the L&G Group, ensuring that areas of Actuarial Financial Reporting are thoroughly reviewed and understood within the context of the control framework. This includes providing guidance and training to other Financial Control team members and key stakeholders. Ensure adherence to the Financial Control Framework (FCF) requirements, focusing on the performance of walkthroughs and the effectiveness of actuarial processes. This will involve:
- Identifying relevant risks and controls.
- Completing final risk and control lists.
- Documenting and addressing issues identified during the design effectiveness assessment.
- Accurately capturing all issues and actions.
- Assisting in the preparation of relevant Management Information for the committee. Validate risk assessments, including agreeing on and rating deficiencies, as well as formulating associated remediation plans. Engage with key stakeholders to facilitate the successful implementation of these plans. Support the evaluation of significant models and End-User Computing (EUC) as necessary to provide assurance to the Group Model and Financial Control Committee. Oversee business-as-usual deliverables, including task scheduling, ensuring that the team's output meets the highest standards of accuracy and detail. Review and approve key deliverables while managing team capabilities to ensure effective and efficient operations, with timely resolution of any issues. Ideal Candidate Profile: Nearly Qualified or Qualified Actuary (or equivalent experience) Proven experience with IFRS17 and Audit processes. Comprehensive understanding of the Legal & General Group and its offerings. Strong grasp of actuarial processes related to protection and retirement sectors. Familiarity with financial reporting risk and control frameworks is advantageous, though not essential. Solid conceptual and practical knowledge of risks and processes tied to insurance and asset management. Ability to critically assess technical requirements and devise innovative, practical solutions.
