Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Actuary to take on the role of Financial Control Manager. This position offers a competitive salary along with a car allowance (for those fully qualified under the IFoA or equivalent) and a range of excellent benefits. The Financial Control team plays a crucial role in evaluating and enhancing processes to maintain a robust control environment throughout the Legal & General Group. In this capacity, you will assist the Financial Control Lead and Senior Managers to ensure the Financial Control Framework (FCF) operates effectively and efficiently during the annual reporting cycle. This will involve continuous collaboration with stakeholders across various divisions and functions, including senior teams within Divisional and Group Finance. Key Responsibilities: Serve as an Actuarial control authority for the L&G Group, ensuring that Actuarial Financial Reporting areas are thoroughly reviewed and assessed regarding the control framework. This includes providing guidance and training to other members of the Financial Control team and key stakeholders. Ensure the completion of FCF requirements concerning walkthrough performance and the Design & Operating Effectiveness of actuarial processes, which will involve:- Identifying relevant risks and controls.
- Completing final risk and control lists.
- Documenting and addressing issues from the design effectiveness review.
- Accurately capturing all issues and actions.
- Assisting in the preparation of relevant Management Information for the committee. Validate Risk Assessments, including agreeing on and rating deficiencies and developing associated remediation plans, while engaging with key stakeholders to facilitate the effective execution of these plans. Support the evaluation of significant models and End User Computing (EUC) as necessary to provide assurance to the Group Model and Financial Control Committee. Oversee Business As Usual (BAU) deliverables, including task scheduling, ensuring that the team's output meets the highest standards of accuracy and detail. Review and approve key deliverables while managing individual capabilities to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently, resolving issues promptly. Candidate Profile: Nearly Qualified or Qualified Actuary (or equivalent experience) Proven experience with IFRS17 and Audit. Comprehensive understanding of the Legal & General Group and its offerings. Strong grasp of actuarial processes related to protection and retirement sectors. Experience with financial reporting risk and control frameworks is advantageous but not essential. Solid conceptual and practical understanding of risks and processes in insurance and asset management. Ability to critically evaluate technical requirements and devise innovative, practical solutions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to persuade on technical matters.
