We are seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Manager to enhance our Group Reporting team. This department is tasked with comprehensive Financial Reporting functions, which encompass general ledger management, quarterly Group consolidation participation, supplementary disclosures, and the annual preparation of entity Reports and Accounts.
The primary objective of this position is to focus on post-ledger activities, specifically overseeing the management, creation, and evaluation of Financial Reporting for the Legal & General Reinsurance entities.
The key responsibilities include managing and finalizing quarterly supplementary disclosures and annual statutory reporting obligations, with a strong focus on investment reporting and the elements impacting the IFRS17 Insurance figures.
The role will also involve acting as a consultant on Investments for the Business As Usual (BAU) team, ensuring consistency in Investment reporting within the ledger.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and facilitate the delivery of Financial Reporting for L&G Re and L&G Re2, emphasizing investment reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes coordinating and executing Group disclosures through the OneStream consolidation tool, providing ongoing support to the BAU team regarding investments, preparing for annual accounts production, and overseeing the distribution of annual Reports and Accounts.
- With the introduction of IFRS17, a significant understanding of new processes and principles is essential; a primary responsibility will be to navigate the IFRS17 Insurance reporting landscape to ensure the accuracy of reporting disclosures.
- Identify, manage, and monitor the resolution of issues during report production while maintaining communication with key stakeholders.
- Develop expertise in system reporting tools (GFAS, OneStream, CDM, IFRS17 systems, Clearwater, etc.).
- Collaborate effectively with the GL/SII Manager to optimize resource allocation in achieving team objectives.
- Work alongside the Financial Reporting L&G Re team, Group External Reporting, Investment Management, the broader Group Finance team, and external auditors to ensure that requirements are understood, scheduled, and executed.
- Mentor less experienced team members to enhance their technical and procedural knowledge, serving as a coach when appropriate and setting a positive example.
- Establish and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders and external auditors.
- Assist in the integration of new Financial Reporting tools into Business As Usual (BAU), particularly Clearwater and the new tool for annual Reports & Accounts disclosure management.
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant from a recognized accountancy body with a solid understanding of IFRS17 Insurance Contracts and IFRS9 Financial Instruments.
- Essential experience in Group Financial Reporting processes.
- Proven experience in annual Reports & Accounts production under IFRS.
- Knowledge of internal control procedures to ensure compliance is essential; experience in insurance and investment disclosure reporting is advantageous.
- Experience in life and/or general insurance reporting is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workloads proactively and coordinate activities to deliver complex processes within tight deadlines.
- Experience in collaborating with others to develop practical solutions to process, reconciliation, and accounting challenges.
- Ability to navigate complex internal processes and systems architecture, linking interdependencies effectively.
