Senior Commercial Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager with expertise in civil engineering and cabling operations within the telecommunications sector to enhance our Circet UK division.

As the Commercial Manager, your primary role will involve overseeing, guiding, and nurturing the commercial team. You will be tasked with establishing commercial reporting frameworks and procedures aimed at optimizing the financial performance of all managed contracts, with a strong emphasis on risk management, pricing adjustments (EWN/CE Processes), supporting pre-tender activities, meticulous cost oversight, and the daily administration of contracts or a collection of contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial functions across diverse work programs, including Design, Testing & Commissioning, Materials, Telecommunications, Electrification, Power, and Plant.
  • Collaborate with project delivery teams responsible for work packages and project change management.
  • Coordinate with Project and Contracts Managers to gather relevant project information.
  • Oversee work package cost management, including forecasting, budget oversight, and control.
  • Prepare both internal and external commercial reports.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Manage costs associated with direct labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Estimate changes and variations using various methodologies.
  • Forecast costs and assess the expenses of completed work packages.
  • Assist in the execution of commercial strategies.
  • Conduct meetings with clients and senior management to ensure cost projections align with project timelines.
  • Work proactively with Tender and Bid teams to attract new clients and projects.
  • Develop a strategy for supplier engagement across the UK.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly understand and implement the company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that contract programs are delivered safely, with quality, and on schedule.
  • Promote a 'Right First Time' culture throughout the organization.
  • Drive compliance with any applicable regulatory requirements related to operations.
  • Ensure all contracts achieve revenue and profitability targets by maximizing efficiency and minimizing failures.
  • Manage client relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Champion innovative approaches to enhance service delivery and support initiatives for change implementation.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex bids and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, costs, and profitability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business profit and loss dynamics.
  • Experienced in dispute resolution processes.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction law.
  • Experience with NEC, JCT, ICE, and bespoke contracts.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills, with a strong problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in IT applications.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
