Position Overview
The Bud Flanagan East Ward is a specialized 16-bed unit dedicated to the care of patients diagnosed with Leukaemia, Myeloma, and Lymphoma throughout their treatment journey. Our ward is actively involved in a range of bone marrow transplant procedures, including those from sibling, unrelated, and cord blood donors. In collaboration with our partner ward, Bud Flanagan West, we primarily focus on patients undergoing autologous transplants and manage our Ambulatory Inpatient Service.

Key Responsibilities
To lead and oversee a shift, ensuring effective communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients. To apply clinical judgment and decision-making regarding patient needs, focusing on long-term objectives and care plans. To actively engage in the daily organization and execution of clinical trials, including patient recruitment, education, monitoring, and liaising with trial sponsors as necessary.About The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

Job Responsibilities

Verifying patients' vital signs, blood results, body surface area, chemotherapy prescriptions, and consent prior to treatment administration. Providing education to patients regarding their treatment, including indications and potential side effects. Ensuring that necessary medications and follow-up appointments are secured. Planning, documenting, delivering, and evaluating care plans from admission to discharge/transfer, engaging with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams, while alerting the Sister/Charge Nurse of any changes. Setting goals for identified nursing issues and encouraging other nursing staff to do the same. Assisting patients in achieving set goals through effective care planning.Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
NMC Registration Evidence of ongoing professional development RMH Certificate in Intravenous Drug Administration or to be obtained within three months of appointmentDesirable Qualifications
Qualification in oncology or specialty Diploma or Degree level study (or equivalent) Recognized teaching qualificationEssential Experience
Experience in intravenous drug administration Sufficient post-registration nursing experience in oncology or specialty to confidently utilize the required skills for the roleDesirable Experience
Experience in chemotherapy administration Experience in Clinical Management Evidence of relevant teaching experience Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials managementSkills and Abilities
