Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist with extensive knowledge and experience in the field. This position involves working with both primary and secondary breast cancer patients. You will join a dynamic team within the Private Care sector of The Royal Marsden, which operates across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about patient care and thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. Strong clinical leadership, effective communication, adaptability, and organizational skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will serve as the primary contact for patients, guiding them through their treatment journey, which may include surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and/or radiotherapy.

You will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team and Clinical Nurse Specialist group to provide tailored, evidence-based care.

Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality, specialized nursing care and support for patients diagnosed with primary and secondary breast cancer.

You will act as a resource for both patients and the clinical team, offering comprehensive advice, information, and training regarding breast cancer management.

Conduct thorough nursing assessments to identify the unique needs of patients and their families, including holistic evaluations.

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of breast cancer to facilitate collaboration with medical professionals, ensuring that patients and their families are well-informed about proposed investigations and treatments.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the training and development of nursing staff to enhance their skills for effective patient care.
  • Provide both informal and formal educational sessions, including academic courses and ward-based training.
  • Develop educational resources and teaching materials for patients and staff in clinical and educational settings.
  • Assess personal educational needs and stay updated with clinical and nursing advancements in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements.
  • Offer mentorship and support to new Clinical Nurse Specialists within the team as directed.

  • Current professional registration.

  • Significant post-registration nursing experience in oncology or a related specialty.
  • Experience in clinical management roles.
