Role: Site Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for a Site Engineer to become a vital part of our team, focusing on the construction of significant infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Civil Engineering, complemented by practical site experience, particularly in reinforced concrete (RC) structures.

As a Site Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the execution of reinforced concrete structures, ensuring that all work aligns with the specified contract drawings and technical requirements. You will be tasked with conducting setting out and as-built surveys, as well as managing quality assurance documentation and site inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in Civil Engineering, with a solid understanding of RC structures.
  • Familiarity with RC construction processes, formwork, and working within a high-profile, Tier 1 environment, emphasizing health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Desirable knowledge of reinforced concrete structures.
  • Proficient in using Trimble or Leica EDMs and Laser Levels.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in utilizing various setting out instruments and a strong grasp of reinforcement drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS).
  • Competent in computer applications, including MS Office, AutoCAD, and cloud-based systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in setting out and surveying tasks.
  • Willingness to address health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) matters proactively.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective teamwork and independent work capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • CSCS certification.
  • Additional certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, SSSTS, First Aider, Fire Marshall, IPAF (for MEWPs), and HS2 induction are advantageous but not mandatory.

Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Adhere to Galldris Group's health, safety, and quality management systems and project engineering standards.

Project Management:

  • Understand short-term lookahead programmes and provide feedback on site issues that may affect project timelines.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving site-related challenges that could impact progress.

Design and Assurance:

  • Familiarize yourself with design drawings, specifications, and setting out requirements to ensure accurate construction.
  • Raise queries and highlight issues to the appropriate line manager.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) are followed.
  • Assist in maintaining organized and accurate quality assurance records, including checksheets and inspection logs.
  • Support the documentation, tracking, and resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and defects.
  • Participate in quality readiness reviews and contribute to lessons learned and improvements.

Operational Duties:

  • Conduct precise setting out tasks on site using relevant surveying equipment.
  • Perform surveys and compile as-built information.
