An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Works Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in Civil Engineering, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally with Main Contractors. A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel between sites is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and leadership of a multi-disciplinary team, including Foremen and Labour.
  • Ensure that all site operations are conducted safely and in compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Supervise subcontractors and direct workforce, ensuring the right resources are allocated effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and implement Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Monitor resource levels and reconcile them against the project cost plan.
  • Ensure all daily checks and records are maintained accurately.
  • Manage plant hiring and maintenance in accordance with company standards.
  • Implement quality control measures and ensure comprehensive daily records are produced.
  • Conduct site inductions and safety briefings to maintain high standards.
  • Collaborate with site teams to develop and monitor project programmes.
  • Manage logistics and material ordering to minimize waste.
  • Provide reports and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Mentor and support team members to enhance their skills and performance.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in civil engineering within regulated environments such as rail, highways, or water sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of FRC and experience in Groundworks and Earthworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams and maintain high safety standards.
  • Valid SMSTS and CSCS Card are required.
  • Current driving licence is essential.
