Position Overview

Lead Cost Consultant

Company: Galldris Group

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Lead Cost Consultant to become a vital part of our Midlands division. Candidates should possess a background in Civil Engineering.

The Lead Cost Consultant will oversee all financial aspects associated with construction and civil engineering initiatives, from preliminary assessments to final accounts, aiming to reduce project expenses while maximizing value and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The successful applicant must hold a valid UK driving licence, as inter-site travel is a requirement.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analytical Skills & Decision Making

  • Organizes information and meticulously verifies data
  • Optimizes digital capabilities

Cost Management

  • Develops Activity Schedules, Resource Plans & evaluates tender documentation

Estimating

  • Thoroughly reviews, estimates, and negotiates with third parties

Project Planning

  • Assesses intricate contract schedules such as Time-Location
  • Supports the creation of delay and disruption schedules

Project Oversight

  • Supervises subcontractor activities, measures performance, and responds accordingly
  • Evaluates commercial progress and reports to senior project personnel
  • Manages financial aspects with clients and stakeholders within their area of responsibility

Procurement Strategy

  • Conducts constructability assessments using construction schedules
  • Formulates procurement timelines and assists in strategy development

Commercial Oversight

  • Evaluates rates & pricing, manages variations and compensation events as necessary
  • Engages in client and stakeholder management for their designated area
  • Prepares, submits, and negotiates claims as required. Generates internal reports, monitors commercial progress, and conducts financial reconciliations
  • Adheres to company protocols

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience in civil engineering, managing all financial aspects of projects, and possessing fluency in contract law and terminology
  • High proficiency in utilizing NEC3 Options A, B, and C contract forms
  • Capable of producing comprehensive Cost Plans and CVRs, presenting findings to regional managers/board
  • Experience in team management
  • Strong understanding of and compliance with the Company's GMCEs, BMS, and other governance frameworks

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related technical qualification (HND/HNC)
  • Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • CSCS Card

Skills:

  • Proficient in various IT applications, including Microsoft Office and specialized software
  • Outstanding relationship-building capabilities
  • Self-driven and proactive with commercial insight and understanding of the construction process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiation expertise applicable internally, externally, and with our supply chain
  • Consistently positive demeanor and ability to integrate and contribute actively within the construction team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
