Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

NHS Scotland is a prominent healthcare provider, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We are dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care, to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million.

As part of our commitment to improving work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024. This change will also apply to part-time staff on a pro-rata basis. Please note that some service areas may require temporary adjustments to accommodate this new schedule.

The position entails a Monday to Friday shift pattern, with salaries calculated on a pro-rata basis for part-time roles.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our established team within the Older People's Mental Health Acute Liaison Service. This service provides multidisciplinary mental health support to in-patients across various acute hospital sites. The successful candidate will primarily be based in the North East region, supporting our teams in delivering high-quality care.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial post-registration experience, demonstrating autonomy in clinical decision-making and care delivery. The role demands effective management of a dynamic caseload, ensuring timely discharges and appropriate referrals to other services.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will engage with individuals in distressing situations. As a Band 6 nurse, you will have opportunities to enhance your clinical expertise and contribute to service improvements. You may also be called upon to provide guidance to other services or act in a Band 7 capacity when necessary.

With a focus on minimizing admissions to mental health facilities, you will adopt innovative care strategies and collaborate with peers across services to facilitate seamless transitions for patients within the healthcare system.

Our service promotes a flexible working environment, allowing staff to balance home-working with clinical responsibilities. The role may involve travel between hospital sites, so a valid driving license is preferred. Current NMC registration is a requirement.

NHS Scotland is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, encouraging applications from all community sectors. We proudly support the Armed Forces Community and recognize the value of military experience in our recruitment process.
