As part of our commitment to improving work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, with no impact on remuneration. This change will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Please note that while we aim to implement this new schedule, some service areas may require temporary adjustments, necessitating up to an additional 30 minutes of work per week until the new rosters are fully established.
The role entails a shift pattern of 37 hours across 12-hour rotations.
An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Care of the Elderly sector for a dynamic and driven individual to assume the role of Charge Nurse. You will play a pivotal role in leading, implementing, and assessing the standards of exceptional nursing care.
Ward 54 is dedicated to Acute Medicine for the Elderly, accommodating 30 patients who are among the most dependent and vulnerable within the hospital, presenting a diverse array of medical conditions and clinical requirements. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing both qualified and unqualified staff.
- Ensuring that all staff members have access to appropriate learning opportunities, fostering best practices to deliver high-quality patient care in alignment with the CAS standards framework.
- Exhibiting strong organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to developing your leadership and managerial capabilities.
- Providing clinical guidance and professional management, while acting as a deputy for the Senior Charge Nurse as necessary.
- Demonstrating outstanding leadership, effective communication, and organizational abilities.
- Engaging in personal development and contributing to educational initiatives and audits.
- Possessing substantial experience at band 5 level in a relevant healthcare setting, along with a high proficiency in IT skills.
- Having a solid understanding of policies, procedures, and national targets to effectively support the team.
