Work Schedule: The standard working week is being adjusted from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, with no alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time employees. Please note that certain service areas may not immediately implement this change, and you may be required to work an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which you will be compensated until the service adapts its scheduling.

Shift Patterns: The role involves a 7-day working schedule, rotating between day and night shifts.

Contract Duration: This position is fixed-term for one year.

Qualifications: A valid PIN with the NMC.UK is essential for application. Please be aware that applications from newly qualified nurses or midwives will not be considered.

About the Unit: The Acute Medical Receiving Unit (AMRU) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a significant medical admission facility catering to various medical specialties, including Respiratory, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Older People Services, and Hyper Acute Stroke. Our team is equipped to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care for up to 68 patients across three wards. We operate in a fast-paced clinical environment, admitting patients through multiple pathways, including the Emergency Department and Acute Assessment Unit. Our unit benefits from two consultant-led ward rounds daily.

As a cohesive team of around 120 staff members, we prioritize well-being, continuous learning, and development, celebrating our collective efforts. Our leadership team comprises 6 Senior Charge Nurses and 14 Charge Nurses, supported by administrative staff and a Clinical Practice Educator.

Role Overview: We seek experienced registered nurses interested in a dynamic clinical role, engaging with a wide range of patient demographics and multidisciplinary teams. This position offers autonomy within the scope of existing knowledge and skills. Our staff rotation model ensures comprehensive experience and skill development, preparing you for future opportunities. Daily responsibilities include assessing the emotional and physical care needs of patients and executing various technical and invasive care procedures.

In our respiratory zone, for instance, staff will care for patients experiencing simple exacerbations of COPD to those requiring advanced interventions such as non-invasive ventilation.
