Job Summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Charge Nurse to lead our inpatient mental health nursing team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of our patients.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure patient safety.
  • Lead on quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
  • Provide education and training to nursing staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.
  • Contribute to the development of nursing strategies and policies to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mental health nursing, with a focus on inpatient care.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience of leading teams and developing policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.
