As an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have 24-hour responsibility for the smooth operation of the inpatient ward/department. This includes:

  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team
  • Developing and supporting ongoing nursing staff training and development
  • Ensuring safe and effective deployment of nursing resources, including robust risk assessment, management, and implementation of complex care plans using a strength-based, recovery-focused approach that actively involves patients.
  • Undertaking Nurse Line Management responsibilities for senior nursing staff, monitoring key performance indicators related to nursing activity.
  • Taking responsibility for clinical governance activities within the department, including care assurance, standards compliance, professional regulation, complaint handling, staff governance, Clinical Supervision, Nurse Line Management Supervision, legislative frameworks, and implementation of national and board policies/guidelines.

You will actively participate in multidisciplinary decision-making regarding clinical assessments, risk management, and care plans. Monitoring nursing activity, workforce issues, and ensuring resource efficiency are crucial aspects of this role.

Supporting the service manager, you will contribute to the health and social care agenda, leading on professional, practice, and service improvements to ensure safe, effective, person-centered care delivery for our inpatient mental health service.
