Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 individuals across a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical roles. Our organization is dedicated to delivering comprehensive acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population exceeding 1.15 million, with an extended reach to 2.2 million through our regional and national services.

Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts are required for this position.

As part of the ongoing improvements in working conditions, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without any alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time employees. It is important to note that while this change is being implemented, certain service areas may not immediately adopt the new hours, and you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week temporarily, for which you will be compensated until your service area adjusts its schedules.

Position Overview: We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Charge Nurse to become an integral part of our dynamic and progressive team within the Ward 5A Diabetes / Endocrine unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for the assessment, delivery, and oversight of all patient care needs within the ward environment.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills in assessing patient requirements, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based care. The ability to maintain high clinical standards in a fast-paced setting is essential. Flexibility, forward-thinking, and effective collaboration within a dynamic environment are key attributes for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in multidisciplinary communications to enhance the patient experience.
  • Report directly to the Senior Charge Nurse while working autonomously with support from the broader nursing team.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and decision-making skills, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

It is essential that candidates are currently registered with the NMC and can provide evidence of continuing professional development. While experience in Diabetes / Endocrine nursing is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. Flexibility to work in other clinical areas as service needs arise is expected. The shift pattern for this role includes 12-hour day/night rotations and weekend shifts.

Inclusivity Commitment: NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde actively encourages applications from all community sectors. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture throughout our organization and take pride in our diverse workforce.
