Job Summary

NHS National Services Scotland is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Perinatal Mental Health Service as a Community Staff Nurse (Band 5). This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team, participating in the assessment of individuals referred to our service, and implementing evidence-based treatment and interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in regular caseload supervision with a named Community Charge Nurse (Band 6) to manage a community caseload, including admitting, assessing, care planning, and discharging patients as appropriate.
  • Supervise the practice of and/or demonstrate procedures to Student Nurses and other disciplines, such as Nursery Nurses.
  • Be an active participant in our Perinatal Advice Line, which acts upon referrals from other health professionals and offers a consultancy service on perinatal mental health issues.
About the Service

The Perinatal Mental Health Services provides a Community Psychiatric Nursing (CPN) service for patients residing within the NHS catchment area who are experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of illness during the perinatal period. Our service aims to provide a comprehensive and individualized package of care for the patient and infant within the patient's family and community environment, while also providing psychiatric liaison to the health board's maternity units.
