Job Overview

Southeastern is looking for meticulous and committed individuals to join our team as Interior Standards Operatives. In this role, you will be essential in upholding the quality and safety standards of our train interiors, ensuring compliance with regulations and enhancing passenger satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Executing repairs and maintenance tasks, such as replacing seat covers, window films, seat bases, armrests, table tops, and toilet fixtures. You will foster a customer-focused atmosphere by maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of train interiors.
  • Performing thorough internal and external cleaning, including graffiti removal.
  • Conducting initial fault diagnostics for toilet systems.
  • Preparing trains for seasonal conditions by implementing winterization procedures, enhancing traction and safety through sanding operations, and ensuring optimal fluid levels, including replenishing screen wash and anti-ice fluids.
  • Assisting with depot and siding winterization, applying anti-ice and de-icing products to walkways and roadways, conductor rails (under isolation), and managing snow clearance.
  • Ensuring the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting any faulty equipment, and participating in maintenance procedures. You will also manage inventory levels of materials, machines, and tools, reporting any shortages promptly.
  • Completing all required paperwork accurately and promptly, adhering to established protocols, whether in paper or electronic format. You will maintain detailed records of tasks and report any issues encountered during your shift.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members, showcasing strong communication skills. Attending training sessions and briefings to stay informed about safety protocols and industry standards is essential.
  • Maintaining a customer-centric approach, ensuring a welcoming environment for passengers.
  • Adapting to changing schedules, priorities, and tasks, responding efficiently to unexpected situations.
  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills to address challenges related to interior maintenance or equipment issues.
  • Managing time effectively to complete tasks within designated schedules, optimizing productivity.
  • Promoting environmental responsibility by adhering to eco-friendly cleaning practices and waste disposal.
  • Responding to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Developing and maintaining proficiency in the use of tools and cleaning equipment.
  • Showing flexibility in working hours and locations as operational needs dictate.
  • Fostering a safety-conscious culture by identifying and reporting potential safety hazards or defects.
  • Performing additional tasks as directed by the Interior Standards Supervisor.
