Job Overview

Southeastern is looking for committed and meticulous individuals to join our workforce as Interior Standards Operatives. In this role, you will be instrumental in upholding the highest standards of train maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and exceeding passenger expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Executing repair and maintenance tasks, such as replacing seat covers, window films, seat bases, armrests, table tops, and toilet fixtures. Maintain a customer-focused environment by ensuring train interiors are inviting and well-kept.
  • Performing thorough internal and external cleaning, including tasks like graffiti removal.
  • Conducting initial fault diagnosis for toilet-related issues.
  • Preparing trains for seasonal conditions through winterization procedures, enhancing traction and safety by conducting sanding operations, and ensuring fluid levels are optimal, including replenishing screen wash and anti-ice fluid.
  • Assisting with winterization efforts at depots and sidings, including applying anti-ice and de-icing products to walkways and roadways, conductor rails (under isolation), and snow clearance.
  • Ensuring proper use and preparation of tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting any faulty equipment promptly, and participating in maintenance procedures. Manage inventory levels of materials, machines, and tools, reporting any shortages.
  • Completing all paperwork accurately and promptly, adhering to established protocols, whether in paper or electronic format. Maintain detailed records of tasks and report any issues encountered during the shift.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members, showcasing strong communication skills. Attend training sessions and briefings to stay informed about safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Demonstrating a customer-oriented mindset, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for passengers.
  • Adapting to changing schedules, priorities, and tasks, responding efficiently to unexpected situations.
  • Exhibiting strong problem-solving skills to address challenges related to interior maintenance or equipment issues.
  • Managing time effectively to complete tasks within designated schedules, optimizing productivity.
  • Promoting environmental responsibility by following eco-friendly cleaning practices and waste disposal methods.
  • Responding to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Developing and maintaining proficiency in the use of tools and cleaning equipment.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in working hours and locations as operational needs dictate.
  • Fostering a safety-conscious culture by identifying and reporting potential safety hazards or defects.
  • Carrying out tasks as directed by the Interior Standards Supervisor.
