Job Overview

Southeastern is looking for meticulous and committed individuals to join our team as Interior Maintenance Specialists. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our trains are upheld to the highest standards, aligning with safety regulations and enhancing passenger satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Executing repairs and maintenance tasks, such as replacing seat covers, window films, seat bases, armrests, table tops, and toilet fixtures. You will foster a customer-centric approach, creating a welcoming atmosphere for passengers by attentively managing train interiors.
  • Performing thorough internal and external cleaning, including tasks like graffiti removal.
  • Conducting initial fault diagnosis of toilet issues.
  • Preparing trains for seasonal conditions by implementing winterization procedures, conducting sanding operations for improved traction and safety, and ensuring optimal fluid levels, including replenishing screen wash and anti-ice fluid.
  • Assisting with depot and siding winterization, which includes applying anti-ice and de-icing products to walkways and roadways, conductor rails (under isolation), and snow clearance.
  • Ensuring proper use and preparation of tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, promptly reporting any faulty equipment, and actively participating in maintenance processes. Additionally, managing inventory levels of materials, machines, and tools, and reporting any shortages.
  • Completing all paperwork accurately and promptly, adhering to established protocols, whether in paper or electronic format. Maintaining comprehensive records of tasks and reporting any issues encountered during the shift.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members and demonstrating strong communication skills. Attending training sessions and briefings to stay updated on safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Demonstrating a customer-focused mindset to ensure a positive environment for passengers.
  • Adapting to changing schedules, priorities, and tasks, responding efficiently to unexpected situations.
  • Exhibiting strong problem-solving skills to address challenges related to interior maintenance or equipment issues.
  • Managing time efficiently to complete tasks within designated schedules, optimizing productivity.
  • Promoting environmental responsibility by adhering to eco-friendly cleaning practices and waste disposal.
  • Responding to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Developing and maintaining proficiency in using tools and cleaning equipment.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in working hours and locations as operational requirements dictate.
  • Promoting a safety-conscious culture by identifying and reporting potential safety hazards or defects.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Interior Standards Supervisor.
