Role Overview:

Our client, a reputable local housing association, is seeking a dedicated Housing and Community Officer to become a vital part of their team on a permanent basis. This position is entirely office-based in Liverpool and presents a remarkable opportunity to positively impact the lives of residents and the surrounding community.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering essential services that assist tenants in maintaining their tenancies and improving their living conditions.


Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Providing thorough guidance to tenants regarding tenancy issues, welfare benefits, and rehousing inquiries.
  • Supporting tenants with specific needs to ensure they fully benefit from their housing arrangements.
  • Assisting the Property Services Manager in meeting turnaround objectives for vacant properties and overseeing the lettings process.
  • Evaluating housing applications and managing allocations in accordance with our Lettings Policy.
  • Ensuring the efficient completion of tenancy terminations and new lettings, including the management of notices and the signing of tenancy agreements.
  • Monitoring and enforcing tenancy conditions, collaborating closely with the Housing Management team to address disputes and manage violations.
  • Working with the central finance team to oversee rent and service charge payments, proactively addressing arrears.
  • Facilitating legal actions when necessary, particularly in cases of non-payment of rent or other tenancy violations.
  • Conducting estate inspections and tenancy audits, working with colleagues to enhance the quality of our housing environments.
  • Encouraging tenant and resident participation in service delivery and decision-making processes.
  • Managing complaints in line with our established policies and procedures.
  • Representing the Association's interests at internal and external meetings.

Key Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a solid understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing social housing and property management, along with experience in delivering services that align with these standards.

Experience in supported housing is advantageous but not mandatory.

A background in General Needs housing or tenancy management, coupled with a genuine desire to assist individuals in maintaining their independence, is essential.

Familiarity with the challenges faced by tenants or household members with learning disabilities, mental health issues, or physical and sensory impairments is important.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with experience in one-on-one customer interactions.

Good numeracy and literacy skills relevant to the job responsibilities are necessary.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a Housing Management system is expected.
