We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Lead Policy Development in our Organisational Development team to make a positive and lasting impact for all our colleagues in the council. We know just how important it is that we make sure our employees can be confident in the HR Policies we have to help shape our culture and ambition to create a more equal Islington.

You will act as the council’s expert on our HR Policies, providing high quality advice to colleagues across HR, and wider across the council.

You will lead and provide strategic direction to HR projects as part of delivering our workforce strategy and Islington Together 2030 plan.

You will ensure the council’s HR policies are modern and progressive, they are simple to understand and use for all staff. You will be required to design these progressive policies in a collaborative way, engaging with colleagues, staff networks and Trade Unions.

You will start off by taking a lead on shaping and delivering our current policy review.

You may have a generalist or business partnering HR background and be looking to branch out into this specialist area. We think someone who enjoys exploring the detail, collaborating and solving problems would thrive in a role like this.

- Support the communication of policy changes.
- Lead the delivery of HR aspects of the workforce strategy, personally leading on complex programmes of work and working closely with HR colleagues to ensure all projects are effectively prioritised and resourced and that the programme is managed, monitored and

reported on in line with project management frameworks.
- Lead on the development and implementation of the council’s well-being strategy, working collaboratively with Public Health colleagues, HR partners, employee engagement forums, external partners to deliver innovative solutions to support a healthy workforce.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders such as trade union colleagues and self supporting employee engagement forums, minimising risk of industrial relations.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data and intelligence to underpin the development of evidence-based workforce plans to contribute to business improvement through strategic planning.
- Provide professional level HR advice, support and guidance to Chief Officers, senior managers, managers acting as trusted advisor and champion of best practice.
- Champion equality and inclusion at work through the ongoing development and implementation of the council’s Workforce strategy, supporting the implementation of initiatives to impact favourably on inclusive opportunities for staff.
