**Job summary**:
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive nurse to join our friendly BMT co-ordinator team. You will be part of the team co-ordinating therapies and delivering CNS support to haematology patients receiving allograft transplants. You will work closely with the medical and nursing team delivering pre and post transplant support to patients as well as inpatient support.
Our forward thinking team will support you to develop clinical and management skills required for the role, to develop research and teaching skills, and to attend and present at local and national forums. You'll be welcomed in to the wider haematology team and get to know our CNS and ward teams, supporting junior team members to develop their own skills and knowledge.
**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
- Facilitating tissue typing of potential related donors and liaising with internal teams to facilitate stem cell collection
- Liaising with external organisations including Anthony Nolan and NHSBT to identify and facilitate stem cell collection of unrelated donors
- Liaising with external colleagues at referring hospitals to ensure clear lines of communication leading up to transplant
- Attending pre-transplant clinics to provide ongoing patient information, education and advice, both face to face and over the telephone
- Attending MDT and ward rounds
- Requesting and collating results from pre-transplant investigations
- Writing transplant protocols and preparing protocol packs for admission
- Supporting patients throughout their inpatient admission
- Supporting patients post-transplant face to face in clinics and over the telephone
- Triage patients telephoning unwell post-transplant
- Arranging ongoing treatments and investigations post-transplant
- Supporting patients and families on palliative pathways and receiving bad news
- Delivering education to junior nurses and AHPs on study days and in practice
- Supporting administration of stem cells and cellular therapies on the inpatient ward
- Working in accordance with JACIE standards at all times

- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6
**Desirable**:
- Advanced communication course

- Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- Significant post registration experience within haematology, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
- Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
