**Job summary**:
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Trainee Band 6 Liver Recipient Transplant Co-ordinator. On successful completion of a competency based training programme, you will progress to a Band 7 at one of the largest transplant centres in the world.

You will be responsible for the seamless co-ordination of patient care throughout their transplant journey. You will provide patient support and education through expert knowledge, working closely with the transplant team and wider MDT. You will be the patient's advocate working closely with inpatient and outpatient services and community teams across.

We are looking for someone with some experience working with liver patients. The post holder should work well in a team, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you will be communicating with patients, relatives and staff, initiate and share ideas with the team and must be able to prioritise your workload.

On completion of the Band 7 competencies you will work as a proactive, autonomous practitioner working on-call receiving organ offers, setting up a range of transplants, liaising with MDT, working across site at Birmingham Children's Hospital and being the first point of contact for our transplant patients.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by Trust Policies & the NMC. Provide expert nursing advice to a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support within the services, being a point of contact for assessment, information and advice for the patient, family and all staff involved in the care of the patients. As part of a CNS team the post holder will assume a lead role in a sub-speciality area of practice, developing guidance, analysing data and outcomes and identifying areas of change. Support the development of staff caring for patients through support, formal education, practice development and role modelling. To teach and act as a facilitator and supervisor and mentor to other staff. As an expert nurse the post holder will practice autonomously, working independently within their scope of clinical practice and in conjunction with other relevant clinical staff. The post holder will assist with clinical development in maintaining and improving all aspects of clinical governance, evidence based practice and quality assurance and monitoring within the service and speciality. Use a range of techniques to ensure, set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching. Participate in a 24 hour on call rota coordinating patient enquiries and assuming responsibility for the coordination of the National Organs Retrieval Service as required.

Liver, Hepatology, Solid Organ Transplant experience

Where required for the role willingness to undertake training and education to support the role of Non-medical prescriber ( tbc for post )
