**Job summary**:
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated and passionate Medical Secretary/PA to our Lower GI Team to provide secretarial and administrative support to two Consultant Surgeons. The Lower GI Service provides a high level of care and management to patients with diagnoses of cancer and benign conditions.

You will need to possess good typing and administrative skills, with previous secretarial experience and excellent communication skills. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, as well as attention to detail, are also essential in order to meet Trust Targets and tight deadlines. You will need to be a friendly individual who enjoys working as part of a Team, as well as individually, as the other Medical Secretaries do.

Our Medical Secretaries keep things running smoothly by juggling clinical and administrative duties and deal with a variety of patients and Clinicians, whilst all the time keeping a smile on their face.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Keyboard/Typing skills.

Diary Management.

Waiting List Management

Knowledge of IT Systems (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).

Organisation and Prioritisation.

Time Management.

Attention to detail.

Teamwork.

Ability to deal with stressful and sensitive situations.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Good General Education (e.g. GSCE Maths and English Grade 4-9).
- RSA/OCR II or equivalent experience.
- Business Administration NVQ 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical setting.
- AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of working as a Medical Secretary.
- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience.
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience of using IT systems.
- Experience of working in Healthcare.
- Good organisational skills.
- Able to use own initiative and deal with the unpredictable.
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
- Able to work to deadlines.

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a busy environment.
