**Role**: Transport Officer

**Location of Role**: Carnbane, Newry

**Role Purpose**: To support and add value to the compliance function for the transport department.

**Hours**: 45 hours per week

**Accountable to**: Transport Operations Lead

**Key Relationships**: Department Managers, Trading and Sales Team, HR, H&S, Customer Service, External clients and customers and 3PL partners

**About The Role**

**Responsibilities**
- Lead recruitment & onboarding of new HGV driver and Helpers.
- NTD, manage Driver/Helpers holidays, monitor holiday requests, balance to reduce operational risk.
- Key function to support Driver’s hours & Tachos, ensure drivers hold the correct entitlement (driving licence & CPC). Maintenance of vehicles, Overloading prevention, Speed limits, Control of authorised operating centres, to ensure only authorised centres are used, fleet are maintained with the legal margin as per licencing.
- Driver/Helper Payroll, BSC, spend tracker for transport, support Operational Lead yearly Budget.
- Support Compliance, Fleet & Planning departments for alignment of legal undertakings whilst setting weekly KPIs.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cost reduction to maximise efficiency and effectiveness with reducing unnecessary over time, balancing fleet working time directive.
- Lead and drive key transport initiatives to improve customer support whilst minimising costs, utilising internal fleet and reduction of 3PL usage, this is evidence-based reports weekly.
- Improve the operational performance of the fleet, whilst minimising the operative downtime.
- Monitor & Lead supplier invoices, PO’s, 3PL Charges, Fuel accounts, Easy trip, Maintenance invoices whilst seeking opportunities for cost reduction in each field.
- Sample audit Compliance department weekly for transparency and accuracy, provide operations lead with detailed analysis. Monitor Vision & ORBCOMM for effective management.
- Sample Audit Fleet for the following: Taxed, Insured, Licenced, scope of PMIs, PSV, LOLER +Testing, service planning, defect rectification, Pre checks, Wheel management programme, First Use inspection reports, monitor R2C, audit maintenance reports for inconsistencies.
- Sample auditing of Planning: Optimisation, route planning, allocation of runs aligned with consolidation for effectiveness.
- Scheduling of DCPC.
- Build & deliver company polices.
- Support a compliance & Health & Safety comes first culture.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimise S&W operations.
- Display continuous improvement throughout all areas of transport operations.
- Act in a positive and constructive way to help develop and maintain the company brands.
- Demonstrate flexibility to enhance operational requirements.
- Support & Co-ordinate analytical planning using supply chain software.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cost reduction to maximise efficiency and effectiveness with reducing over time, balancing fleet working time directive.
- Supporting Transport Operations Lead at a supervisory level of driver and helper fleet including people management e.g. performance management, absence management etc.
- Lead RTC investigations, provide accurate documentation of records, tracking reports, CCTV/ Camera Matic’s evidence based to challenge claims, building a strong relation with our insurers.
- Monitor drivers daily (ORBCOMM), audit drivers card alignment with drivers manifests for efficiency, detailed tracking reports vs manifest to establish lost hours, reports forwarded weekly to operations lead for review.
- Support (Ad-hoc) planning and drive key transport initiatives to improve customer support whilst minimising costs, utilising internal fleet and reduction of 3PL usage, this is evidence-based reports weekly.

**Required Criteria**
- Must be TMCPC certified.
- Least 5 years experienced in similar role in transport.
- Must be competent in TMS.
- Flexibility (Overtime) in fulfilling operations requirements.
- Previous experience in supervisory / Management role.
- Must have sound geographical knowledge of NI/ROI.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel & Word.
- Excellent understanding of planning & control systems.
- Identify areas to further improve operational performance.
- Experienced with delivering accurate KPI reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent People & communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.
