Medical Secretary - Are you looking for an interesting and varied secretarial position within a busy department? If so, then this could be just the role for you

The duties are varied and include the typing of clinic letters and the administrative and secretarial requirements of a busy department.
You will be a well-motivated team member, able to prioritise and work accurately and efficiently on your own initiative with mínimal supervision. You must be able to demonstrate excellent written, typing and verbal communication skills.

Provide a first point of contact for all levels of staff, patients and their relatives for the Clinical / Medical Teams. This will include advice and support to patients and their carers in relation to their appointments, treatment and diagnosis ensuring that at all times confidentiality and data protection are not breached.
- To provide leadership for the clinical facing administration teams, and may undertake day to day supervision of the Medical Administration Team/s, induction and training of the Medical Team Administrators.
- Often being the first point of contact for patients the role is intrinsically linked to the patient journey by supporting the clinical multi-disciplinary team, in line with the UHL Values.
- To provide a full secretarial and administrative support service to the clinical / medical team/s.
- To monitor and ensure clinical correspondence is produced and compliant with the Trust quality standards.
- To provide support and guidance to patients, carers, relatives, company representatives and others making contact with the service.
- To organise complex activities / programmes.
- To chase diagnostics reports in timely manner

- To provide a courteous and professional service in line with Trust standards at all times, with respect to communication to patients, colleagues and service users.
- Responsible for the initial handling of complaints or other information requests coming into the clinical office.
- To work on own initiative to answer queries regarding patient’s results (for example, results from MRI’s and ensure these are picked up from the relevant department on a regular basis) in accordance with defined protocols, and providing support, coaching and guidance to the clinical administrative team/s.
- To work within a team ensuring cover is provided at all times to maintain an essential service.
- To actively participate in the sharing of skills and experience in the clinic team associated with each speciality aiding the spread of good practice throughout the team.
- To attend in-service training or meetings to ensure that skills and knowledge are kept up-to-date and appropriate to the post
- To attend all mandatory training as required by the CMG/Trust
