Ayr, United Kingdom Scottish Legal Aid Board Full time

**Looking for an exciting administrative role in the legal sector? Join us as a part time Secretarial Administrator (Grade 3).**

Reporting to the Head of Office, you'll provide efficient support to solicitors, maintaining case files, drafting legal documents, and managing enquiries.

You'll need excellent communication and computer typing skills to efficiently handle administrative tasks, from diary management to processing invoices, ensuring smooth operations. You’ll also support the delivery of client-centred legal services across the network.

**About us**
**The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB)** was set up in 1987 to manage legal aid in Scotland. We are a non-departmental public body responsible to the Scottish Government. Our main purpose is to manage and continuously improve publicly funded legal assistance and to advise Scottish Ministers on its strategic development for the benefit of society.

**The Public Defence Solicitors’ Office (PDSO)** was established in 1998 and is a national network of publicly employed solicitors operating from eight offices across Scotland providing criminal legal assistance. Operating as a direct service of the SLAB, we advise and represent clients, who are eligible for criminal legal aid, in relation to summary and solemn cases at every level and in Scotland’s busiest courts all over the country.

**Why work for us**
We are an ethical organisation, carrying out rewarding work that can have a considerable impact on clients’ lives.

We seek high calibre people and in return, we set out to provide good training and development with rewarding working conditions. We aim to be an ‘employer of choice’. Should you come to work with us, you’ll discover that no matter what your job or level of responsibilities, you are treated as an individual, with fairness, dignity and respect.

Our stable and secure reward package includes:

- a competitive salary with potential for pay progression
- flexible working arrangements and a great holiday entitlement of 34 days per year (inclusive of public and privilege holidays) increasing after five years of continuous service
- a defined benefit pension scheme with a 6% employee contribution
- job security in a stable environment for long term career progression
- support from colleagues within a rewarding, positive work environment
- Opportunities for learning and development while making a difference with challenging tasks for ultimate job satisfaction.

**About the role**
Reporting to the Head of Office and liaising with the Network and Systems Coordinator, the Secretarial Administrator will provide efficient and high quality legal administrative and casework support to solicitors within their office and across the PDSO network. Responsibilities include managing case files and processing case documents, audio and copy typing, drafting legal documents, handling client inquiries, and managing mail. In addition, the post holder has a role in supporting the delivery of client-centred and trauma informed legal services.

This post is permanent on a part time basis (21 hours per week).

**We are an equal opportunities employer, dedicated to being fair, inclusive and to being a place where all belong.**
