We are looking for a new member to join our small but mighty team who is passionate about commercial fiction and delivering high quality books to readers. We are focused on finding someone who is passionate about delivering top-quality products, who has exceptional organization and time management skills, who can react quickly to changing demands and actively seeks to improve workflow. There will be scope to be innovative and we are always looking at new ways of doing things. Please note, that this is not an acquiring role. This is a fast-paced fiction list and you will be part of a team that works flexibly and has a lot of fun along the way

Responsibilities

Project manage titles to publication schedules and consistently deliver high quality booksBe the central point of contact for editorial freelancers and organise the freelance schedule for copyediting and proofreadingAd hoc proofreadingLiaise with external stakeholders over manuscripts at each stage of the editorial process for copyedits and proofreadsGeneral admin duties and correspondenceUndertake the production work of titles and liaise with internal departments where required, specifically publishing operations, production, audio, rights and designTypeset all titles for print books and eBook using specialist software called Vellum (no prior experience of this software required)Responsibility for updating backlist files for promotions and reprintsCreating and receipting POs and setting up suppliers on internal systemsResponsibility for ordering author copies from the warehouse to authors, as well as ordering in copies for the editorial teamResponsibility for monthly submissions to publishing publications e.g. The BooksellerResponsibility for title submissions for the HarperCollins group newsletter Knowledge, skills and experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skills to express technical and creative vision clearlyExcellent organisational skills and experience of working to deadlinesAdvanced MS Word, Excel, PowerpointRemains calm under pressure, able to work at pace and to tight deadlinesAble to prioritise and manage multiple schedulesCapacity to learn and be adept at using multiple editorial and IT systemsHappy to work independently as well as part of a teamDynamic and innovative, not afraid to do things differentlyExcellent attention to detailActive problem solver BenefitsHybrid working model (3 days in the office)28 days holiday plus bank holidaysPrivate healthcare cover and life assuranceSummer Hours Free access to HeadSpace, employee assistance programme (24 hour helpline), mental health first aiders, and a wellbeing portalRelocation Rent Support Loan Employee networks: HC All In (open forum), Elevate (for ethnic minority colleagues), HarperParents, Menopause at Work, Pride at HC, Social Mobility Network and Neurodiversity at WorkUnlimited training on our Learning and Development portalVirtual GP and eyecare vouchersGym membership discountOnsite physiotherapy (London only)Charitable donation matching and 2 volunteering daysWe're a certified Carbon Neutral companyFree e-books and audiobooks, newspaper subscriptions and discounts on booksSubsidised canteen and retail discountsOnsite prayer room If you wish to discuss anything regarding this position and/or your application to this role, please reach out directly to with subject heading 'Vacancy Query' plus the job title and we will aim to get back to you within 5 working days.
