We are looking for an Assistant Editor to assist in editing, commissioning and proofing articles, as well as contribute to the planning of the magazine. The ideal applicant will be enthusiastic, creative and engaged, with previous editing experience.

About the role

Assist in the preparation of the magazine by commissioning, editing and proofreading copy.
Clear copyright; liaise with contributors; manage submission enquiries.
Contribute to developing themes and editorial direction.

About you
Experience editing for a print or digital publication.
An eye for detail and a good understanding of English grammar and spelling.
Some demonstrable knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, history.
Excellent organisational skills. An appreciation of the importance of deadlines.
An interest in journalism and publishing, familiarity with History Today, and awareness of similar titles.



Part time: three days per week

Work from our London-based office

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 pro rata
