Editor, Children's Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Editor to join our Education team at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. As an Editor, you will be responsible for managing individual book projects from commission to publication, working closely with authors, commissioning team, and senior editors to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and maintaining publishing schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Project manage titles across a range of educational products, from teaching resources and professional development books to children's fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
- Guide individual titles through the editorial process, working with authors to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and liaising with production staff to maintain publishing schedules and data in our publishing database.
- Manage the editorial budget for individual titles to ensure profitability.
- Organize and assist with the writing of AIs, catalogue copy, and book fair materials.
- Develop and copyedit new manuscripts independently, as well as alongside project editors/commissioning editors.
- Write cover and artwork briefs and compile back cover copy.
- Proofread and liaise with authors at proof stage, collate comments and corrections, feed back to production, and then check off changes on revised proofs.
- Liaise with external and internal designers on page layouts, covers, and artwork briefs, including storyboarding and illustrator selection.
- Present titles to sales and marketing teams at launch and review meetings.
- Represent the education list at sales conferences and events, as required.
- Organized, confident, and a good communicator.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language, high standards of accuracy, and a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organizational skills and a rigorous, self-motivated approach to briefing, meeting deadlines, and managing schedules and budgets.
- Able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Awareness of print procedures and printing needs.
- Awareness of cost limitations and profitability of a project.
- Demonstrable experience of education publishing essential.
