Role Overview

The Assistant Managing Editor will oversee the seamless execution of the publishing process for a specific portfolio of books while providing editorial assistance across the Cornerstone catalog. Key responsibilities include managing selected titles through the editorial workflow and coordinating external processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with Editorial, Production, and Design teams (and international publishers as necessary) to manage the editorial process for key titles.
  • Supervising the editorial and production workflow for designated original titles.
  • Gathering manuscripts and proofs, ensuring accuracy in proof corrections.
  • Proofreading book jackets and covers for assigned titles.
  • Reviewing marketing materials, including book-proof covers.
  • Performing various editorial and administrative tasks to ensure departmental efficiency.

Qualifications:

We seek a candidate eager to advance their career in Managing Editorial. The following qualifications are essential:

Experience:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with the publishing industry and the editorial/production process, whether in trade, academic, or magazine sectors.
  • A genuine passion for literature and a voracious reading habit.
  • Proficiency in copy-editing and proofreading.

  • Results-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Exceptional grammar and spelling skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player with interpersonal sensitivity.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary for this position ranges from £29,500 to £32,500, depending on your skills and experience, along with bonuses and additional benefits.
