ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Editor-In-Chief, the Content Director will be responsible for crafting and implementing the content strategy for House Beautiful, aligning with the brand's growth objectives across various platforms and customer interactions. Leading the Daily Editor and Deputy Editor, you will oversee the creation and editing of original content while curating existing materials for all channels, including app, website, e-commerce, social media, newsletters, magazines, and supplements. Collaboration with the Centre of Excellence teams, particularly the Creative Director, Chief Sub-editor, and Homes Community Directors, will be essential to deliver a cohesive and engaging 'magazine' experience across all mediums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a keen insight into the homes market, including trends, new products, and emerging brands.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director to realize the brand's vision and strategy, ensuring a unified approach.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Editor and Daily Editor to ensure an integrated content creation and production process, maximizing every opportunity.
  • Inspire the team with continuous creativity, generating innovative ideas for cross-platform content that advances the brand.
  • Communicate this vision effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the team daily, guiding them to produce top-tier content that fosters engagement and drives growth in circulation and subscriptions.
  • Ensure all content is factually accurate and legally compliant, maintaining a consistent tone and adherence to core brand principles.
  • Collaborate with the Group Chief Sub Editor to maintain an efficient workflow, addressing any issues or changes in best practices.
  • Ensure all production timelines are adhered to according to established schedules.
  • Partner with the Editor-In-Chief to ensure the financial health of the print brand.
  • Establish clear KPIs for the team that align with the overall brand strategy.
  • Support licensing partners by working with the Commercial Content Director on the planning and execution of all licensing content, ensuring a compelling editorial experience for brand partners.
  • Act as an ambassador for Hearst UK and its values.
  • Undertake additional duties as required based on your skills and experience.

This position calls for a seasoned editorial leader with extensive experience in magazine content creation and a deep understanding of quality content, visuals, and production processes.

  • A strong creative eye for quality and detail, with comprehensive knowledge of the subbing process and workflow management.
