About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Chief Sub-Editor to join our dynamic Entertainment Portfolio team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production of leading weekly print titles, including best and Inside Soap, as well as online content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive sub-editing support to the Chief Sub-Editor, ensuring seamless workflow and adherence to deadlines.
  • Sub-edit and layout all pages for best and Inside Soap magazines, maintaining brand consistency and editorial standards.
  • Produce compelling newsletter, online, and social media content across the Entertainment Portfolio, adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Meticulously fact-check and verify information, ensuring accuracy and reliability in all published content.
  • Rewrite copy as needed, enhancing clarity, flow, and engagement for readers.
  • Compose engaging display copy, including captions, that align with each title's unique tone and style.
  • Sub-edit additional editorial or commercial content as required throughout the production process.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Sub-Editor to create and refine flatplans, ensuring optimal page layout and content flow.
  • Contribute to maintaining up-to-date style guides for each title, upholding brand consistency.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in consumer publishing, a strong understanding of best and Inside Soap's readership, and proficiency in InDesign and CMS platforms. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are essential.
