ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Editor-In-Chief, the Lead Editor will take charge of devising and implementing the content strategy for House Beautiful, aimed at advancing the brand's objectives across various platforms and customer interactions. You will lead the Daily Editor and Deputy Editor, overseeing the creation and refinement of original content, as well as the adaptation and curation of existing materials for all channels, including app, website, e-commerce, social media, newsletters, magazines, and supplements. Collaboration with the Centre of Excellence teams, particularly the Creative Director, Chief Sub-editor, and Homes Community Directors, will be essential to ensure a cohesive and engaging 'magazine' experience across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a deep understanding of the home sector, including trends, emerging products, and new brands.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director to realize the brand's vision and strategy, ensuring a unified approach.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Editor and Daily Editor to deliver a cohesive content creation and production strategy, maximizing every opportunity.
  • Inspire the team to maintain a flow of creative ideas and experiences for cross-platform content that propels the brand forward.
  • Communicate this vision effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the team daily, providing guidance and support to produce top-tier content that engages the audience and drives growth in circulation and subscriptions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and legal compliance of all written content while maintaining a consistent tone and core brand values.
  • Collaborate with the Group Chief Sub Editor to establish an efficient workflow, addressing any issues or changes in best practices with the team and Editor-In-Chief.
  • Ensure all production timelines are adhered to as per agreed schedules.
  • Partner with the Editor-In-Chief to oversee the financial health of the print brand.
  • Help establish clear KPIs for the team that align with the overall brand strategy.
  • Support licensing partners and collaborate with the Commercial Content Director on the planning and execution of all licensing content, ensuring an engaging editorial experience for brand partners.
  • Act as an ambassador for Hearst UK and its core values.
  • Undertake additional duties as required based on your skills and experience.
